Dam History

There's a 70 year-old dam on the south end of Amherst Lake that needs repair. That's going to take community support.  Our goal is to fix the dam to bring back water levels and restore the beauty and enjoyment of the lake as we  know it.

Future Scenarios

If the dam is removed, Amherst will continue to be one of the deepest lakes in Vermont, but it will be 25% smaller and the depth will be lower.

Our Goal

We have a duty owed to each other and to the environment we share.  We believe that we are doing what's best for the lake and for the community by beginning our preservation and long-term stewardship with saving the dam.
